Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has left Saudi Arabian second-tier side Al-Qadsiah after four months in the role, despite guiding the team to second in the table.

Fowler had overseen six wins and two draws since taking charge of the club in June.

The run of results saw Fowler named at the manager of the month in the division for September.

Fowler leaves the role with Al-Qadsiah second in the table, one point behind leaders Al-Orobah.

Al-Qadsiah had finished 11th last season, 23 points adrift of the play-off spots.

‘The management of Al Qadsiah Sports Club have decided to terminate the contractual relationship with first team football coach, Mr. Robbie Fowler,’ a statement read.

‘The club appreciates the coach’s efforts and professionalism and wishes him all the success in his professional career.’

Fowler has been replaced by former Real Madrid and Spain striker Michel.

 Michel has previously coached Sevilla, Marseille, Getafe and Olympiacos, leading the Greek side to two domestic titles in his first spell at the club.

Fowler, 48, had been in the fourth role of his managerial career.

Fowler started his managerial career by taking charge of Muangthong United in Thailand back in 2011.

The former Liverpool star managed Australian side Brisbane Roar between 2019 and 2020, before taking charge of Indian Super League side East Bengal FC for the 2020-21 season.
