Robert Irwin issues urgent warning to weight lifters at gyms across the country: ‘Always check under them’

Robert Irwin issued an urgent warning to weight lifters across Australia on Wednesday.

The celebrity conservationist, 20, took to Instagram with a video of caution as he warned there is one thing you should always do when working out.

Sharing a close up look of some old weights in his home gym, the I’m A Celebrity host lifted one to reveal a massive huntsman spider.

‘Hi, this is Robert, and I’m going to show why you should always check under your weights before that next set,’ Robert began his video.

He then proceeded to lift up one of the weights and expose the huge arachnid hiding beneath it.

The camera then cut to Robert getting up close and personal with the beastie as he said: ‘Good form, buddy. Keep it up.’

Robert shared the video to his Instagram account with the joke caption: ‘He’s just trying to be a good gym bro… always leg day for this guy.’

It comes after Robert copped the wrath of vegetarians and vegans this week when he appeared in a Twisties campaign.

The wildlife warrior starred in a new ad which asked snack fans to vote for their favourite Twisties flavour: Chicken or Cheese.

In the clip, Robert advocated for the chicken flavour while singer G Flip, 30, gunned for cheese.

‘To all my chookstituants! I say chicken is the people’s Twistie!’ Robert said from a podium.

‘Cheese has carried chicken on its delicious shoulders for far too long! No more cluckin’ lies,’ G Flip added.

The campaign sparked backlash from vegans and vegetarians after it was shared to Robert’s Instagram page.

Chicken Twisties are neither vegan or vegetarian as the Australian snack lists at least three ingredients derived from animals, including chicken fat and whey powder.

‘Weird guy to get to do this kind of advert tbh,’ one user wrote.

‘Why are pushing for chicken if you are such an animal lover? No animals have to die for cheese,’ another commented.

‘How you gonna say you’re a conservationist and then promote a product that is made with chicken fat and milk? Make it make sense bro,’ a third wrote.

‘I’m honestly surprised that you aren’t vegan, or at least vegetarian. Someone who loves and cares about animals like you should care about the animals in the meat industry too,’ another commented.

Meanwhile, many fans jumped to the zookeeper’s defence.

‘Sooo, because he’s an animal activist he has to be 100% vegan 100% of the time?’ began one fan.

‘His father loved a good lamb roast and eating meat sustains their bodies for the strenuous exercise and work they do throughout the day keeping Australia Zoo up to par,’ they continued.
