Rock band Queen have come top of a definitive all time list of artists Brits would most love to see live, according to a new poll.

Researchers polled the nation’s music fans to discover the acts, from past and present, we would want to see live.

Queen, fronted by the late, great Freddie Mercury, came top with 37 per cent of people giving them a vote – beating The Beatles into second place.

The band was formed in London in 1970 by singer Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon.

Respondents were given a list of artists from Bob Marley to Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse to The Police, and selected all the artists they would love to see live.

The Beatles came second in the list, with 27 per cent voting for them as an act they would love to see on stage.

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran came third in the list with a quarter of Brits (25 per cent).

Adele, who has just renewed her residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, came in fifth place with 24 per cent.

Elvis came sixth in the poll with 23 per cent.

Overall, a resounding 84 per cent of the 2,000 people surveyed by O2 Priority Tickets platform, agreed that watching live music is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

When asked what they love most about live music, 66 per cent said the atmosphere, 55 per cent said it was a unique experience, and 52 per cent said it is the best for making memories.

Overall 64 per cent said they are happy to cut back on other costs in the current climate to ensure they can still watch live entertainment.
