‘When I looked at the Chelsea players, I knew it was over’: Romelu Lukaku says he was confident his new team-mates would beat Man City in the Champions League final after seeing their ‘focus’ in the tunnel before kick-off in Porto

Romelu Lukaku says he was confident Chelsea would beat Manchester City in the Champions League final after seeing both teams in the tunnel before the game.
The Belgian striker was watching the game at home with his son as Kai Havertz scored the goal to win Chelsea their second Champions League trophy.
Chelsea since signed the 28-year-old for £97.5m, bringing him back to Stamford Bridge seven years after he orginally left.
Romelu Lukaku was confident Chelsea would win the Champions League before the game
Lukaku is hoping to make his second Chelsea debut on Sunday when the Blues face London rivals Arsenal.
Ahead of the game, Lukaku has been interviewed by the club for their official website.
When asked where he was watching the Champions League final, Lukaku replied: ‘I was at home with my son.
Lukaku said he believed Chelsea would win after seeing their ‘focus in the tunnel’
‘I knew they were winner already when they were in the tunnel (before the game).
‘There was one image in the tunnel before the players were on the pitch where they show both teams.
‘They showed the Manchester City players and when I looked at the Chelsea players, the focus, especially Azpi (Cesar Azpilicueta) and Antonio Rudiger, I was like “yeah I know that look, I know that focus”. I knew it was over’.
Chelsea won the Champions League in Lukaku’s debut season against Bayern Munich back in 2012.
Lukaku was unable to get regular football and was sold to Everton in 2014, before later spells at Manchester United and Inter Milan.
Chelsea went on to lift the trophy after Kai Havertz scored the winner against Manchester City
The Blues resigned Lukaku on the back of a successful season in the Serie A where he fired Inter Milan to the title with 24 goals.
Lukaku also spoke of how he reacted when he first learned of Chelsea’s interest.
He said: ‘Even though I was feeling very well at Inter, for me it was the chance of a lifetime.
‘My love for the club means the world to me. Having the opportunity to come back was crucial. I knew the club was always trying to dominate. I won last season with Inter in Italy, and everything was going well for me, but I thought the only club I would leave Inter Milan for was Chelsea.
