Rose McGowan slams Trump for ‘racist and sexist’ behavior saying he is ‘just showing us who he is’

Rose McGowan said President Donald Trump is just ‘showing us who he is’ by allegedly displaying racist and sexist behavior.

The 44-year-old actress was a guest speaker at the OZY Fest on Saturday in New York’s Central Park, along with other prominent names including Hilary Clinton and Cynthia Nixon.

McGowan – who was debuting a new, bleached buzz cut – said that the commander-in-chief was being ‘helpful’ by ‘pointing out’ what racism and sexism is, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘As horrified as so many of us are at living in these scary times, the reality is that all the stuff [Trump] has been doing has been going on for a long time,’ McGowan said.

‘He’s telling the truth by being it. It’s scary as f**k but he is showing us who he is.’

McGowan also went after disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. She is one of the most vocal of the 87 women who accused him of sexual misconduct.

Fay Schlesinger, managing editor of Ozy Media, asked McGowan why she went public in naming Weinstein as opposed to many women who don’t name their purported abusers, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

‘I don’t think there is any right way to out a rapist,’ McGowan replied.

‘I was dealing with a very different type of human being who was getting penis injections to go into rooms and rape.’

She also pleaded with men to fight for and help women as fellow human beings.

‘I would implore men to fight for who they are as humans. I’m really sick of hearing the “I have a sister, I have a mother” thing. No, no, no, no. You’re human. They need to step back and realize they’re human first,’ McGowan said.

The actress also took the time to promote her book, Brave, which chronicles her childhood and her alleged rape at the hands of Weinstein.

‘I offered myself, my life story in the book,’ McGowan told PIX11. ‘If it’s been done to me, I know it’s been done to others.’

When asked why she had chosen to name Harvey Weinstein as her abuser when others had chosen not to, McGowan replied: 'I don't think there is any right way to out a rapist'

‘When I shaved my head, one of the immediate side effects I noticed was that people could hear the words coming out of my mouth,’ McGowan said.

‘I no longer looked like – not that this is a bad thing – one of the Kardashians. The hair thing was really a cry of freedom. I wanted to see if I could do that for more women.’

The OZY Fest, a two-day music and culture festival, featured speakers inlcuding Roxane Gay and Alex Rodriguez, and a performance by Common.

The festival continued on Sunday with speakers including GOP political consultant Karl Rove, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and comedienne Chelsea Handler.
