Roy Keane has slammed Kylian Mbappe for his ‘out of order’ actions after the French captain returned to the field of play without the referee’s permission.

The striker suffered a nasty injury late on in their 1-0 win over Austria which left him bleeding profusely.

He broke his nose after going for a header, only to catch the shoulder of Austrian player Kevin Danso.

Mbappe was forced off for medical intervention but then returned to the field without the referee’s permission, before sitting on the pitch and receiving a yellow card from the match official.

After the match, Manchester United legend Keane slammed Mbappe’s apparent deliberate act of time wasting.

Keane told ITV Sport: ‘He gets an injury, trying to stop the play, he’s gone on to sit on the pitch, I don’t like to see this. This is out of order.

‘Listen whether he’s been instructed to go back on by the manager, he’s obviously had treatment he’s come off.

‘I know players can make mistakes, but to go back on and sit on the pitch, he deserved that yellow card I don’t like to see it.’

After presenter Laura Woods said it was ‘not good gamesmanship,’ Gary Neville said: ‘He looks at (Didier) Deschamps and the manager has gone ‘get on’ and I think he will feel that he has let himself down.’

Ian Wright also felt that Deschamps had a part to play, as he said: ‘It’s obvious someone’s said it to him (to go back on the pitch).

‘Hopefully that doesn’t cost him somewhere down the line.’

Deschamps was also booked by the referee for his involvement in the incident.

Blood gushed out of the nose of Mbappe following his sickening collision with Ganso.

The player who is moving to Real Madrid following the end of his Paris Saint-Germain contract, played a part in the only goal of the game.

It was his cross which was was put into the back of their own net by Austria’s Maximilian Wober.

Mbappe missed a golden one-on-one chance during the game, meaning he is still yet to find the back of the net at a European Championship – despite his prolific form in the last two World Cups.
