Royal Family official account likes Tweet blasting Meghan Markle’s ‘furious and terrified haters’

The Royal Family’s official Twitter account has liked a tweet blasting Meghan Markle’s ‘haters’, and praising her for bringing a huge ‘seismic shift in power and culture’ to The Firm.

The account, which has over 4.1 million followers, provides ‘updates, pictures and videos from Buckingham Palace about the work and activities of The Queen and members of The Royal Family’.

But it has taken the unusual step of liking a tweet from a Meghan fan account – TudorChick1501, with the username Ann Boleyn – slamming the ‘furious and terrified haters’ while hailing the Duchess, 38, ‘a genius’.

The royal account never likes posts by fans or members of the public wading into sensitive issues, and it seems that the post may have been liked in error, or that a technical glitch could have occurred.

MailOnline has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment about the post, which has now been unliked.

It comes amid claims the Queen and senior royals are ‘very worried’ about the direction ‘divisive’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, 35, are heading following an explosive ITV documentary.

The documentary, presented by long-time friend of Prince Harry and ITV anchor Tom Bradby, saw Meghan admit she had ‘no idea’ she would face such intense scrutiny and confess that she’d found life in the royal family a ‘struggle’.

But she seemingly received an unexpected public show of support when the social media account run by Buckingham Palace, liked a tweet defending Meghan from ‘trolls and haters’.

While the tweet was sent on October 13, shortly after the couple completed their highly successful tour of Southern Africa, it appears to have only been liked by the account within the last week.

The tweet defended the Duchess and slammed those criticising her, reading: ‘These anti-#MeghanMarkle trolls are all the same: they pine for “the good old days.”

‘She was genius to title her Vogue issue “Forces For Change.”‘

It went on: ‘We are witnessing a seismic shift in power and culture, and her haters are furious and terrified. Oh well. Get used to it.’

The tweet came after it emerged royal experts suggested the Queen and senior royals were ‘very worried’ about the direction ‘divisive’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are heading after they launched their extraordinary attack on the British media.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier, who wrote ‘Royally Suited’ about Harry and Meghan’s romance, said senior royals ‘from the Queen down’ are concerned and branded their comments in their new ITV documentary ‘very serious’.

The couple appeared in the documentary in which they discussed the struggles of life in the royal family.

Meghan and Harry recently appeared in a documentary where they opened up about their struggles in the spotlight

In her first on-screen interview since becoming a mother, the former Suits actress appeared to be holding back tears as she talked about being ‘vulnerable’ during her pregnancy with baby Archie.

She revealed how her friends warned her not to marry Harry because the tabloid focus would ‘destroy your life’ and Harry said that he felt pressure to ‘protect’ his family from unwanted media intrusion.

Meghan revealed that ‘not many people have asked if I’m OK’ and admitted that she was finding her new role as a public figure ‘a struggle’.

The Daily Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers appeared on Lorraine earlier this week and explained that her comments insinuate that the likes of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton are unconcerned about the well-being of Meghan, despite them all being aware of the ‘struggles she’s going through’.

The programme also saw Bradby quiz Harry about his relationship with his brother.

Appearing to confirm the rumoured ‘rift’ between the ‘Fab Four’ – Harry, Meghan, William and Kate, Harry said he and his brother are on ‘different paths’.

Their comments came following months of controversy involving Meghan and Harry, who came under fire for their privacy demands over Archie’s christening, their use of private jets, and Meghan’s Wimbledon appearance when she banned fans from taking photos.

They are suing the Mail on Sunday over its publication of Meghan’s estranged father’s letters, and have begun legal action against the Sun and Mirror news groups over allegations of phone hacking dating back to the early 2000s.
