Royal Hobart Hospital: Child fighting for life with serious injuries Tasmania Police regard as ‘suspicious’

Detectives have launched a desperate public appeal after a young child was found with critical injuries in Hobart.

Tasmanian Police were called in to investigate early Friday after paramedics found the child at an address in Warrane about 1.10am.

On Saturday, detectives revealed they believe the child was injured in a ‘serious assault’ but warned the investigation is expected to take ‘some time’.

‘Police were called to the Royal Hobart Hospital around 5:20am … after a child presented with critical injuries that are believed to be suspicious,’ a spokesman said.

The child remains in hospital in a critical condition.

‘Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and uniform are continuing to investigate and conduct examinations,’ a police statement read.
