Royal photography competition celebrates a year of stunning snaps

It’s certainly been a bumper royal year, with Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding and the birth of Prince Louis being just two of the most memorable events of the past 12 months.

And now, some of the best pictures captured by royal photographers have been selected as part of a competition.

They include images from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s engagement announcement in November, and a cheeky Princess Charlotte sticking her tongue out at the royal wedding in May.

A striking photograph of Prince Philip lifting his hat following his last official engagement also makes the cut, along with a picture of a beaming Queen.

The public have voted for their favourite images from the selection to create a shortlist, which will now go before judges, for NMA’s Royal Rota photography competition.

This year, there is a special category for photographs of Harry and Meghan together, to celebrate their whirlwind year.
