Ruby Rose battles it out on stage with Anna Kendrick

She’s the rising Australian actress who landed a role in the highly-anticipated Pitch Perfect.

And Ruby Rose appears to be cast as a fierce rival to the beloved all-female acappella team, The Bellas, battling out on stage with Anna Kendrick.

In a new trailer released on Tuesday, the action star returns to her musical roots as she fronts a female-led band as a lead singer.

The third installment follows The Bellas, led by favourites Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow, as they perform for the troops during a United Services Organisation concert in Spain.

Reuniting for ‘one last show together’, they soon find themselves intimidated by the tour’s other two bands.

Australian actress Ruby Rose’s band subtly takes a dig at the accapella group as they arrive, sniping: ‘You guys just sing other people’s songs, right? Like a cover band?’

Showing off her pipes! The trailer shows Beca (Anna Kendrick) singing a rendition of R Kelly's Ignition, followed by Ruby (who will play Calamity) signing back with Wake Me Up by Avicii

The comment prompted returning star Hailee Steinfeld (who plays Emily) to turn to Anna Kendrick’s character Beca to say: ‘They’re just trying to intimidate us. Let’s just do what we do.’

Fat Amy, played by Aussie star Rebel, then excitedly suggests: ‘A riff off!’

The trailer then shows Beca singing a rendition of R Kelly’s Ignition, followed by Ruby (who will play Calamity) , singing Wake Me Up by Avicii.

Brittany’s character Chloe felt they had an advantage by using instruments as their accapella group ‘keep it oral’, while Beca questioned: ‘Is it weird that everybody is better at the one thing that we do, than we are at that thing?’
