A broken down train at one of Sydney’s busiest stations has sparked peak hour morning chaos for commuters.
Trains travelling on Sydney’s north shore line are currently cancelled due to a broken down train at Town Hall on Friday morning.
Commuters on the partially closed line are advised to catch bus routes 290, M20, 343 or 263 from Town Hall to North Sydney or travel via the northern line and change at Epping.
Services from western Sydney are being diverted onto the City Circle line instead of travelling to the North Shore.
Commuters on other lines are also urged to allow extra travel time, listen to announcements, check real time apps and indicator boards.
Sydney Trains tweeted at 7.30am that emergency technicians were still on site resolving the mechanical issue.
‘Additional local buses have been added to replace trains between Wynyard and North Sydney. These services will be departing from both Wynyard and Town Hall Stations,’ Sydney Trains tweeted.

Commuters have been caught up in the chaos.
‘One train has a bit of a break down and the entire city circle system just completely shuts down,’ one commuter tweeted.
Another added: ‘Without exaggeration, there has not be a single week this year without a cancellation or significant delays.’
