Russell Crowe drops retirement bombshell after 40 years of acting: ‘You’ll never hear from me again’
Russell Crowe is thinking about winding up his career in acting after four decades in the industry.
The Hollywood star, 59, revealed at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, that he’s considering retirement, according to Variety.
Crowe made note of growing old in the business and contemplated the next step in his career.
‘You are standing in front of the mirror, and go: ”Who the f**k is that?” he told journalists at the festival.
‘I am in that period now.’

The Gladiator star went on to weigh up his options, making note of 85-year-old director Ridley Scott continuing his work as he ages.
‘I will take Ridley Scott as my role model: he is still discovering new things in his work. Or I will just stop and you will never hear from me again,’ he continued.
‘I haven’t decided what it’s going to be. These are two very valid choices.’

Crowe may also be looking to take a step back from Hollywood as he settles down in his relationship with Britney Theriot, who was also present at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
The 31-year-old stood right by his side as the New Zealand-born actor collected a major honour on Friday.
Crowe won the Crystal Globe during the opening ceremony of the festival.
The couple have been inseparable in recent months and have travelled around the world together.
In May, Russell hit the stage in Sydney on Saturday as part of his Indoor Garden Party Tour with Britney tagging along.

The Gladiator star, who was playing a series of gigs on the east coast, performed at The Bridge Hotel and Britney served as a back-up singer.
Russell and Britney are regularly seen jetting between Sydney and Coffs Harbour, where the actor is building a $400million film studio dubbed ‘Aussiewood’.
The Beautiful Mind star owns a 400-hectare farm in nearby Nana Glen, and divides his time between this rural estate and his home in Sydney.
The pair confirmed their long-rumoured romance with a kiss on the tennis court back in November 2020.
He is believed to have first met Britney, a former actress who is the spitting image of Russell’s ex-wife Danielle Spencer, on the set of his 2013 film Broken City.
The Oscar winner shot to fame playing Maximus in the 2000 epic Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott.
He’s also known for other films like Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind (2001) and Man of Steel.
