Russian ‘cannibal’ couple embrace in new picture

An eerie new picture shows the alleged Russian cannibals kissing her co-accused husband as forensic analysis revealed pickled human remains of the macabre couple’s last victim were found in a glass jar in their fridge.

Glass jars were found in the home of Dmitry Bakseev, 35, and Natalia Bakseeva, 42, in Kransodar, some 90 miles east of the Black Sea, along with still unidentified frozen body parts and ‘steamed human meat’.

Forensic investigations have now confirmed that they contained the pickled body parts of ‘final’ murder victim Elena Vashrusheva, 35.

The pair confessed to murdering the waitress ‘in a fit of jealously’ after Natalia accused her of seeking to seduce her husband.

In jail, Baksheev is reported to have ‘complained’ about the ‘separation from his wife’ who was said to dominate him in their relationship.

Viktor Belikov, a human rights activist permitted to meet the alleged cannibal in detention, said: ‘It is obvious that he loves his wife very much and worries about her.

‘I agree that she dominated him in their relationship – and he was ready to do whatever she wanted.’

Belikov also visited Natalia – whose grandfather Konstantin Chanikov was a decorated World War Two hero in Stalin’s forces – and said the pair had spoken of their ‘mad love for each other’.

Baksheeva complained that two other women sharing her cell are taunting her over the cannibalism allegations, with inmates taunting her: ‘Did you eat enough human meat?’

Old friends say they are ‘shocked’ at the claims against Baksheeva, who is seen as a student nurse in a new picture.

The Russian Investigative Committee – similar to the FBI – is examining an alleged confession from the ex-nurse that she and her husband killed and ate at least 30 people, including women dating site users who went missing after arranging to meet men.

Spokesman Vadim Bugaenko said they are checking ‘information about mass murders’ and there is ‘no confirmation yet’.

However, now the couple have changed tack and while admitting to Elena Vakrusheva’s murder, they reversed a previous confession and denied they were involved in previous killings or cannibalism, say the human rights team.

‘Dmitry has heard that the newspapers have called him and his wife Natalia cannibals,’ said Belikov.

‘I would not say that he was angry, his reaction was more melancholic.

‘But he fully denies having eaten human meat.’

The man had been killing and eating people since 1999, according to his confession. Pictured: Body parts of a woman found in Krasnodar

Another picture has been reported as showing a human head on a plate surrounded by oranges

Apart from human body parts, in their flat police found videos with instructions on how to cannibalise humans.

They also discovered gruesome a picture dating to 1999 apparently of a human face being prepared as a dish surrounded by mandarins.

The former cleaner ‘does not look well, he is depressed’ and prison chiefs have refused to put him in a cell with others because ‘he could be beaten’.

It has emerged that earlier reports the couple had been together since at least 1999 are wrong.

He claims they met only a decade ago.

‘We have never parted since,’ he said from his cell.

The pair married in church.

Reports say Natalia made and sold ‘pies’ from suspected human meat and even supplied local restaurants.

A friend, retired air force communications officer Sergey Labintsev, said the couple suddenly attacked him on the false allegation that he had slept with Natalia. Baksheev said he was consumed by jealousy.

‘I could have been eaten too,’ said the pensioner.

‘I could have been dead.

‘Last night I had a nightmare that they were making steamed meat from me.

‘Some six weeks ago I just survived. They could have eaten me if I had not been in good physical shape.

‘And I’ve known these people for many years and always helped them.’
