Russian rapist who fed two victims to dogs and put them in a meat grinder is jailed for 23 years

A convicted serial rapist has been jailed for 23 years after he was found guilty of torturing, murdering and dismembering two women he invited to his flat for pizza.

Alexander Maslennikov, 32, used an axe and a meat grinder to cut up and mutilate their bodies, ‘feeding some human flesh to dogs’, say Russian reports.

Maslennikov had sex with Daria Labutina, 29, before killing her in his flat in Volzhsky city, but because her body was so mutilated police were unable to determine if she had been raped.

Maslennikov was found guilty and sentenced to a maximum of 23 years in prison followed by two years ‘limitation on freedom’ after his release

After slitting Ms Labutina’s throat in his bathroom, he tied up her friend Olga Shaposhnikova, 28, and put a gag in her mouth, a court in Volgograd was told.

Maslennikov boasted to investigators how he taunted and tortured the ‘screaming’ woman who begged him not to kill her.

‘What for? Why?’, she pleaded.

He told investigators the terrified woman, also a sales assistant, knew ‘what would happen to her.’

Maslennikov – released five months earlier from a jail term for rape – begged the court for ‘mercy’ and offered his ‘condolences’ to relatives of the two women he brutally slaughtered.

Speaking from an iron cage he told the judge: ‘I express my condolences to the family and relatives.

‘I regret what I did. I am asking the court for mercy.’

Earlier evidence emerged that he met the pair at a karaoke bar and invited them to his flat for pizza.

He testified that he had sex with Ms Labutina – and then killed her in the bathroom.

Afterwards he matter-of-factly went to eat pizza and smoke with Ms Shaposhnikova who was initially unaware her friend had been murdered.

He became offended with Ms Shaposhnikova after she ‘laughed’ at his ‘stale’ joke which he mistakenly took as a sign she fancied him, he testified.

He tried to kiss her but she refused his demand for sex and pushed him away.

She cut herself on a knife he was holding to cut the pizza that had just been delivered.

She rushed to the bathroom to clean the blood where she saw Daria’s body with multiple stab wounds in the bath.

This is when he tied her up and gagged her – smoking and drinking next to her as she pleaded in vain for her life.

Forensic evidence showed Ms Shaposhnikova died from strangulation.

Maslennikov stabbed her repeatedly after death.

He then went to buy an axe, file, spade, and plastic bin bags.

But the double murderer had said that his ‘moral values’ prevented him from entirely mincing their body parts, according to the judge.

He chopped up the corpses with an axe and took them to a forest area where he frantically dug a grave breaking the spade in the process, said his sister Maria Romashova.

One of the women was cut into 20 pieces.

The legs of the other victim were severed.

Police released CCTV videos that show the 6ft 6inch man entering his apartment block with the women, but then leaving later carrying two sports bags.

Remains of the women were in the bags in bin liners.

Maslennikov was sentenced to a maximum 23 years in prison followed by two years ‘limitation on freedom’ after his release.

Now 33, he has served a total of 11 years in jail for several earlier rape convictions, the court heard.

Olga’s unnamed brother said he should never be released.

‘I have known Alexander Maslennikov since school,’ he said.

‘Each of his crimes was more horrific than the last one.

‘Such people should not be in society, not for ten, 20 or 30 years.’
