Russian smoker sets himself on fire lighting a cigarette while filling his car up in Russia [video]

This is the extraordinary moment a man accidentally set himself ablaze after lighting a cigarette at a petrol station.

CCTV footage from the city of Chelyabinsk in west-central Russia shows the man idly filling his tank before taking out a lighter.

Seconds later he bursts into flames.

As a curious passerby watches on, the man is seen running back and forth in panic before his car also erupts into flames.

He panicked as after lighting the cigarette he burst into flames. The fire also spread to his car 

The desperate man then runs around the back of his car and tries to get into the passenger seat 

He is then seen running around the back of the car and desperately trying to get into the passenger seat.

As the vehicle is engulfed in fire, the man dressed in a white T-shirt and dark shorts frantically slides over to the drivers seat.

He then starts his motor before flooring the pedal and driving off in a blaze of non-glory.

Seconds later he is seen running back to the petrol pump and picking up a fire extinguisher which he then uses to douse down the rest of the flames.

After he slides into the drivers seat the man quickly starts his car and drives off as the fire rages around him and his car

Afterwards, he is seen running back to the petrol pump and picks up a fire extinguisher to douse the rest of the flames 

Posted on the Nexta social media channel, the clip has now gone viral clocking up over 265k views, with the man becoming a laughing stock.

One viewer said: ‘Intelligent, well-educated society, an example to the world.’

Another posted: ‘Brain lost, but saved his car.’

While yet another commented: ‘Unfortunately, it was not a Russian tank.’

Meanwhile, one said simply: ‘This is Russia. I expected the fire extinguisher to fail at the end’.

Another observed: ‘The Russians have nuclear weapons. What can go wrong … .’
