Ohio State head football coach Ryan Day paid tribute to late quarterback Dwayne Haskins on the 3-year anniversary of his passing on Wednesday with an emotional social media post.

Haskins, a former Buckeye and first-round pick of the Washington Commanders, was fatally struck by a dump truck along a Florida highway in April 2022 and died at 24.

Day coaches Haskins in 2017 and 2018 as his position coach before becoming the full-time head coach of the Buckeyes.

‘Miss you brother…’ Day’s post on Instagram said with an in memoriam, black-and-white photo of Haskins. Comments are turned off for the post.

Earlier this year, Day went from seemingly on the hot seat at Ohio State’s head coach to a national-championship winner.

The Buckeyes overcame a loss to rival Michigan to end the regular season and rattled off four College Football Playoff wins to win the program’s first national title since the 2014 season.

Haskins struggled over his first two years in the league with Washington and was cut in 2021 before signing a one-year, $850,000 deal to be a backup in Pittsburgh.

Haskins earned over $14 million in the NFL after an impressive career at Ohio State.

The Buckeyes did not make the CFP in Haskins’ lone season as the full-time starter in Columbus. They did finish 13-1 on the season and won the Rose Bowl over the Washington Huskies.

In 2023, Haskins’ estate has reached a settlement with the driver, the owner and the broker of the dump truck that hit and killed him, according to a lawyer representing Haskins’ widow.

The specifics of the settlement have not been disclosed, according to ESPN.

Rick Ellsley, the lawyer for Haskins’ widow, Kalabrya Haskins, said via ESPN, that other settlements with ‘various other parties’ had been previously reached.
