Ryan Reynolds takes his mom to The View to make her ‘dream’ come true – and jokes he dropped his wife Blake Lively’s name to get tickets

Ryan Reynolds likes to keep his mom happy, and he’s not ashamed to drop his wife’s name to do it. 

The actor, 47, who has hinted at a surprise guest star in the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, was calmly sitting in the front row with his mother, Tammy, when Whoopi Goldberg surprised the studio audience. 

‘You never know what’s going on here at The View,’ the moderator said about halfway through the show Monday.

‘You know, sometimes, you look up and you’re like “Oh, this is really great.” And then you look over and you go “Oh, snap! There’s Ryan Reynolds!”‘ in the clip shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The camera caught the IF star quietly sitting by his mom in the front row. 

The actor smiled and waved to the hosts.

‘Just out of curiosity,’ Goldberg began, ‘like, this isn’t a thing that happens often… what are you… how come?’ she asked.

‘Well, okay, all right, by the way, this is way less stressful than up there,’ he told the panel. 

‘My mom is here visiting her grandkids… and yesterday she said, “It’s my dream to go to The View,” he explained.

‘Oh, my God, exclaimed one of the hosts.

‘First off, I try to do what she says, because you don’t know what she’s capable of. Just unspeakable violence, my whole life,’ the Welcome to Wrexham star joked.

‘So, I didn’t want to taste the back of her hand, so I said, “let’s go to The View.”‘ 

‘We made a call, I told them “I’m Blake’s husband, I’d like to come to The View, does that get us a little farther?” and then, here we are,’ he explained, referring to his wife and fellow actor Blake Lively, 36.

Turning to his mother, he told the audience, ‘I think my mom thought she was going to be on The View, maybe, I’m not sure,’ at which point Tammy laughed and the mouthed the word ‘no.’ 

‘Hey mom, you watch the show,’ asked Sunny Hostin. 

‘Every day,’ she answered. Right now it’s being recorded (at home),’ she told them as the audience applauded.

The actor said he used wife Blake Lively’s star power to get into the show. ‘We made a call, I told them “I’m Blake’s husband, I’d like to come to The View, does that get us a little farther?” and then, here we are,’ he explained  (Pictured in New York in November 2023)

‘You’re welcome anytime Mama Reynolds, you as well,’ Alyssa Farah Griffin said.

‘Can we get a deal on Mint Mobile?’ asked Ana Navarro.

‘Absolutely,’ answered the founder, ‘It already is a deal though, Ana, come on.’

‘I love that commercial,’ said Ana Navarro.

‘And tell Blake to come on’ quipped Griffin. ‘Done, right,’ answered the actor quickly.
