Rylan Clark’s ex husband Dan Neal set to launch dating show called Dates With Mates

Dan Neal is set to launch a new dating show called Dates With Mates after him and Rylan Clark’s marriage broke down in 2021.

The producer, 42, is allegedly excited to ‘play cupid’ on the new BBC Studios UKTV W show.

He parted ways from the media personality, 33, after five years of marriage and has apparently ‘thrown himself into’ the new project.

A source told The Sun: ‘Throwing yourself into work is always a good plan after a break-up. But quite why Dan’s chosen to do that with a dating show I have no idea.’

The premise of the show sees four single friends sit down for dinner, with a new date served up on each course.

BBC studios confirmed to MailOnline that Dan would be the executive producer on the new show.

The source went on: ‘But it’s a fun concept. At the end of dinner, the dates return to ask out only one of the four. As you can imagine, this final scene always causes loads of drama.’

Dan rose to fame on series 14 of Big Brother, where he met Rylan on the spin off show Big Mouth.

The pair later guest presented This Morning together.

The news of the new show comes after Rylan started the new year with a new look, unveiling his incredible new body on Instagram on Sunday.

He showed off a six pack in a series of steamy snaps as he revealed the results of an intense workout regime which has seen him put on four stone in the gym.

The new look comes after Rylan admitted in an interview with The Sun on Sunday that he became ‘dangerously thin’ and ‘mentally unwell’ following his split from husband Dan Neal last year.

Rylan posed for a sizzling photoshoot to celebrate his new look, sharing the photos on Instagram as he thanked his personal trainer.

His post prompted an outpouring of compliments from the star’s celeb pals, with his Strictly It Takes Two co-host Janette Manrara exclaiming: ‘Well…. My tv husband is looking gooooooooooooood’.

Rylan’s This Morning co-star Ruth Langsford simply commented ‘Wow!’ alongside fire emojis and Claudia Winkleman wrote: ‘HOT’.

The television presenter and former policeman Dan announced their split in June last year after six years together, with Rylan saying his weight dropped to 9st 13lb after he ‘didn’t deal with what happened’.

And, while Rylan admits life was ‘s**t’ after the break-up, he has since bounced back, concentrating on his health and diet while buffing up in the gym, putting on four stone.

The former X Factor contestant told The Sun on Sunday: ‘I got ill and I lost weight, I went down to under ten stone — and I’m six feet four inches, so that’s not good.

‘The honest truth is that it’s been s**t.’

One-time Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan took a break from his work commitments over the summer in a bid to look after himself, hailing his mother Linda as a ‘lifesaver’ in that time.

The media personality said his family had been ‘majorly worried’ about him after he ‘disappeared’ for four months this year, taking a break from public life and staying quiet on social media.

‘One of my biggest regrets of this year was putting my mum through me not being well,’ he said. ‘I needed to get back to me.’

Rylan was back on television screens in September to present Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

He enlisted the help of fitness guru Scott Harrison in a bid to feel more confident about himself after splitting from Dan.

‘Getting fit and looking after my body has saved me. Fitness has given me a goal,’ said Rylan.

The screen star cut down on alcohol and had between seven and nine small meals a day, as well as snacks.

And he insists the changes have positively influenced his mental health in addition to the physical benefits.

He said: ‘I’ve decided to look after myself for a change instead of worrying about everybody else.

‘Last year I properly lost myself. I wanted to get me back and make a better version.’

The former couple wed in November 2015 after Dan asked Rylan to marry him in Paris.
