Sabrina Carpenter has been mercilessly mocked after she made an attempt to show off her French in her latest social media post… and it totally backfired.

Sabrina, 25, took to Instagram this week and shared some snaps from her recent trip to Paris, where she was pictured partying with a mystery man.

The pint-sized popstar performed at the French capital’s Accor Arena on March 16 and 17 and couldn’t resist giving her fans a glimpse into her time in the chic city.

As well as a photo of the Eiffel Tower and one of her performing onstage, Sabrina shared a sexy snap of herself posing on a grand marble staircase wearing a slinky white dress.

She captioned the post with: ‘Je suis petite est sucre!’ but it seems her language skills weren’t exactly on point and several people rushed to the comments section to troll her after noticing the translation was not what she intended.

She was likely trying to say ‘I’m short and sweet,’ which is the name of her album and tour.

She was likely trying to say ‘I’m short and sweet,’ which is the name of her album and tour – but, fans were quick to point out that what she wrote actually means ‘I’m little is sugar’

However, people on X and Instagram revealed that what she wrote actually means ‘I’m little is sugar,’ and the revelation resulted in people all across the web poking fun at the mishap.

Questioning the translation, one person asked: ‘I’m little is sugar?’ as a second wrote: ‘You need some French class Madame and I’m happy to help.’

‘Translated wrong, but at least the pictures ate,’ a third person pointed out.

And a fourth commented: ‘I think you mean “et sucrée” but I’m currently blasting Espresso in the gym so it’ll slide.’

Correcting the Taste hitmaker again, another person wrote: ‘Petite et sucrée but that’s OK queen you slay.’

Someone else suggested: ‘I think she meant I’m short and sweet,’ and another person joked: ‘Google translate did you dirty.’

However, some fans defended Sabrina as one person commented sarcastically: ‘Damn so everyone’s a French major now apparently.’

Another told her: ‘I understood what you wrote in French, I translated [automatically].’

Sabrina herself later commented on the post and simply said: ‘Translated so wrong sorry.’

The translation button on Instagram translates her caption as: ‘I’m little is sugar!’ and on Google Translate it reads as: ‘I’m small and sweet!’

Sabrina’s blunder comes after her fans were left fuming by a video of her being hounded by photographers as she left a Parisian restaurant wearing a scarf on her head which covered her face.

As she made her way towards her waiting vehicle, several snappers were heard saying: ‘Sabrina, give us one shot,’ and, ‘Just one shot, Sabrina, we know you’re nice.’

However, once she got into the car without acknowledging them, they changed their tactics and were heard saying several times: ‘Shame on you, Sabrina!’ while another branded her as ‘ridiculous.’

Sabrina referenced the incident in her latest Instagram post by including a photo of her close friend Paloma Sandoval holding up her purple sequin handbag to ensure photographers couldn’t get a photo.

‘PALOMA ATE UP PAPARAZZI BLOCKING, now THAT’S a best friend,’ one person commented, while another said: ‘Paloma the queen she is.’

A third person wrote: ‘Everyone needs a friend like Paloma,’ while a fourth added: ‘Paloma you’re top security.’
