Sad twist as mum allegedly stabbed by teenage girls as she tried to break up a street fight over online trolling dies 10 days after the incident

A heroic mum who tried to stop a vicious brawl between teenage girls has died in hospital after she was allegedly stabbed by a group of teens. 

Kristie McBride died in Wollongong Hospital on Friday, 10 days after she suffered major stab wounds to her torso in the alleged attack. 

Ms McBride was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after she was treated for her wounds by paramedics at the town of Warrawong, south of Wollongong on the NSW  south coast last Wednesday. 

The alleged incident occurred outside of a home on Wiget Way, in Warrawong, around 6.30pm last Wednesday.

The 39-year-old woman lost a kidney and was placed in an induced coma after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times. 

Three teenagers aged 13, 14, and 15 were charged following the alleged attack after they were found on nearby Northcliffe Drive by police and were later taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station

The 14- and 15 year-old-girl were both charged with an intent to commit indictable offence and being in possession of a knife in a public place. 

Police also charged the 14-year-old with stalking and intimidating with an intent to cause fear and physical harm.

The 13-year-old girl was charged with affray. 

Police later arrested another 15-year-old girl at a property in Narrellan Vale after they carried out a search warrant.

The teenager was taken to Narellan Police station and was charged with intent of causing bodily harm and affray. 

Daily Mail Australia understands a gang of up to five teenage girls – including a 12-year-old – allegedly arrived armed with knives and threatened to stab one of Ms McBride’s young relatives.

Earlier, a family member told Daily Mail the attack was triggered by an alleged cyber bullying incident.

The group of girls allegedly threatened to attack another teenage girl who lived at the Warrawong home.

‘They all had knives and said they were going to stab her in the throat,’ a relative said. 

The relative said the mother-of-two came out to her driveway after the girls allegedly showed up at the property. 

‘(Ms McBride) then ran out and they (allegedly) stabbed her on the driveway,’ the relative said.

‘They were here for five seconds and they (allegedly) stabbed her and ran down the road.’

Ms McBride is understood to have not the target of the alleged attack. 

She underwent emergency surgery last week and required a colostomy bag after her bowel and spleen were also damaged in the attack.
