A Cumberland council member told the publication that Mehajer had employed the strategy in the hopes of ‘influencing the new council’.

Mr Mehajer’s company reportedly owns the land around the public carpark site, which he reportedly wants to see developed into a supermarket and series of apartments worth tens of millions.

he has delayed proceedings up to eight times after failing to meet deadlines, with the last council meeting stating they would sell the carpark to Mr Mehajer only under court order.

It comes just weeks after Mehajer gloated about winning thousands of dollars on the Mayweather and McGregor fight.

He had previously denied that he would be attending the fight after securing a visa to travel to Las Vegas when his bail conditions were relaxed.

Mehajer was also seen posting images of his first-class travel, despite claims his two companies have just $32,000 in the bank.

Creditors are seeking more than $97 million for money owed by Sydney Project Group Pty Ltd and S.E.T. Services Pty Ltd, according to their lawyer Andre Zahra.
