Britain’s Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram squandered a two set lead against Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell to lose in the Wimbledon men’s doubles semi-final on Thursday.
Salisbury, the world No 1 in men’s doubles, and Ram took the first set 6-3 on court one before claiming the second after a tiebreak.
They also led 6-4 in the third-set tie-break and had five chances to win it, two of them on their own serves, but could not take any and from there the momentum swung.
Ebden and Purcell edged out a close tiebreak in the third before taking the final two sets to complete a 3-6 6-7 (1) 7-6 (9) 6-4 6-2 victory and book a place in Saturday’s final.
