Sally Kirkland, 76, in surgery to mend large head wound

Sally Kirkland is in emergency surgery to mend a large head wound. 

The Oscar-nominated actress, 76 – who is best known for her films The Sting and Anna – was rushed to the hospital by ambulance on Wednesday after she fell on her knee and face while at a radio show.

According to TMZ, the New York native suffered lacerations that were so serious simple stitches would not do the trick.

The site shared photos of her with a large white bandage around her head. 

The Sting star is expected to recover just fine.

The actress was appearing on John Fugelsang’s show on SiriusXM.   

The New York native is in the middle of filming Sarah Q, according to imdb.

She has been working since 1960, when she landed a small part in Crack In The Mirror.

She popped up in the TV series Hawaii Five-O and Police Woman in 1973.

Next came roles in big films like The Sting and Blazing Saddles.

In the 80s she was in Private Benjamin and Love Letters,

Sally had a comeback when she co-starred with model Paulina Porizkova in the drama Anna in 1987, landing her an Oscar nomination.

She has several films in the works, including When It Rings and Paint It Red,
