She made the long journey to America to await the arrival of her daughter via surrogate.
And one year on, Sally Obermeder has reminisced about her six week long wait for her little girl Elyssa.
The 44-year-old told the Wentworth Courier of her memorable Wisconsin trip: ‘It changed our life for the better and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.’

The Daily Edition TV presenter travelled to the mid west with her six-yer-old daughter Annabelle and sister Maha Koraiem for support, while husband Marcus stayed in Sydney.
She praised her surrogate Rachel for giving birth to a healthy baby girl, following Sally’s battle with stage three breast cancer in 2012.
‘Watching her give birth to Elyssa was so joyous and I was just saying to Rachel the other day that if I had limitless money one of the first things I’d do is get on a plane and go and see her,’ she said, adding that she felt a special bond with her.

This year will be the first Christmas Sally and her family will spend together.
Back in September, the brunette beauty marked five years of being cancer free.
Speaking to Body+Soul she said: ‘I feel like I’ve been holding my breath for five years and I can finally breathe properly again.’

‘There’s always a low-level anxiety you live with — will it come back? Is this going to be it? — especially before a scan.
‘I know the routine well but the inner dialogue and emotion is so full on, I was nervous going to that scan and when it came back clear… My gosh, the relief!’
Aside from hosting the afternoon Channel Seven program, Sally is also an author of health books and runs SWIISH.com with her sister Maha.
