‘It’s a really good time just to nurture yourself, take care of yourself, be kind to yourself if you fall off the wagon because carbs are so good right now!

She went on: ‘Be kind, try and stay out of the fridge as much as you can – I know that’s impossible.

‘But I’m thinking of you all, take it easy on yourselves and hopefully I’ll be back at work soon. I’ll see you then.’

‘If I can offer one little bit of advice at the moment, maybe just leave the alcohol because I think it’s just a waste of points,’ she said.

Sam’s reference to ‘points’ is a counting system used by WW to quantify the amount of energy, sugar, saturated fat and protein in food and drinks.

Changes: Sam has herself lost a whopping 10 kilos on the weight loss program and told the WW site she is, 'feeling more energetic and stronger both mentally and physically'

The Sunrise host is currently taking time off the show to recover from a respiratory infection that she got from covering the Australian bushfire crisis over the summer.

Given that COVID-19 is also a respiratory illness, Sam fears her existing condition will make her more vulnerable to the global pandemic.

Meanwhile, the deadly COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep through Australia. As of Tuesday evening, there have been 4,559 confirmed cases, which have resulted in 19 deaths.
