Sam won the Clive Churchill medal for his gallant efforts during the game. The medal is awarded to the best player on the ground during the Grand Final.

The grit and toughness exuded by Sam is bound to take him far when he competes in this year’s season of SAS Australia.

Trailers for Seven’s military-styled program see the former rugby league player competing alongside 17 other celebrities in a series of gruelling physical and psychological challenges.

At one point, Sam breaks down during an interrogation sequence, which comes off the back of his highly publicised divorce from ex-wife Phoebe Burgess.
