Footy legend Don Scott has left the controversial You Cannot Be Serious podcast after his mate and co-host Sam Newman blasted him for eating biscuits on air and fiddling with a microphone.

Newman described Scott as ‘the most annoying person I’ve ever f**king met’ during their heated exchange last week.

Scott returned to the studio on Wednesday and surprised Newman by abruptly announcing that he would be quitting the show after last week’s spat.

Newman described Scott’s decision to leave the show as a ‘pathetic act of treachery.’

‘I don’t think it was a great surprise,’ Newman said of Scott’s announcement to quit.

‘Don left early [last week] and came late today. I actually am not sure what he came in for.

‘Maybe it was just to tell us he was quitting and couldn’t pick the phone up to tell us.’

Despite Scott’s actions, Newman said he still considers him a friend.

‘I am a friend of Don’s, yes, nice to know who you are dealing with though, someone who won’t stand up and face the music if you have a disagreement, not sure how that works,’ he said.

‘Walking away from something shows a complete disregard for any relationship you have had in the past.

‘That is just a pathetic act of treachery.’

In his brief appearance on the podcast on Wednesday, Scott explained to Newman how he was feeling.

‘You do whatever you want to do … (but) what is the point of trying to have a discussion with somebody who is going off their brain?’ Scott asked.

‘You do not talk to anybody no matter whether it is on-air or wherever in life when they are not rational, so you walk away.

‘I’m not getting into this … This is like a domestic and nobody wins in a domestic.

‘You can put your view as much as you like and I am not here to defend or whatever else.

‘Everybody has a different personality. I am not in to conflict.’

Newman then asked Scott if he was finally going to quit the controversial show and Scott announced that he was.

‘This is breaking news,’ Newman said. ‘Don has now left the building, as Elvis has, and he’s not going to do the podcast anymore.’

The future of the show is now is now in jeopardy.

Newman later posted on social media that he won’t do the show without Scott, and even if he reconsiders it ‘won’t be the same’.
