Sam Smith cut a sharp figure on Thursday as they cosied up to boyfriend Christian Cowan at the US premiere screening Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration at Regal Essex Crossing cinema, New York.

The singer, 32, dressed to impress for the evening, slipping into a black suit which they paired with a jazzy yellow tie.

Sam added tinted shades to their look and clutched on to a beverage as they leaned in for a sweet snap with designer beau Christian. 

Christian meanwhile also looked smart in a grey blazer and trousers, teamed with a white shirt which was unbuttoned to showcase plenty of chest. 

The couple looked in good spirits as they posed amid the premiere which was followed by an afterparty at Casa Cipriani hosted by Mercury Studios and Fathom Events.

Sam and British designer Christian were first linked in December 2022 but didn’t confirm their relationship publicly until May 2024 when they made their Met Gala debut.

Cambridge-born Christian – who swapped UK for the Big Apple – graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2016 and founded his eponymous label that same year.

Despite being a newbie in the fashion scene, Christian ensured to rack up a significant celebrity clientele.

The outing comes after Sam caught the eye in an electric blue silk suit as they hit the red carpet for the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York City on Monday.

The star – who goes by the pronouns they/them since they announced they are non-binary in 2019 – sported a fitting double-breasted blazer jacket, matching trousers and a statement moustache.

After posing for a series of snaps, the Love You Like I Can hitmaker took to the stage at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

The public appearance comes after Sam opened up about a horrific skiing accident which left them traumatised and unable to walk.
The songwriter hasn’t spoken about the incident until July, even though they were spotted walking around New York City in January with a cane in hand.

During a podcast interview, the singer revealed they had to be rescued from a ski slope after tearing their ACL in an accident earlier this year.

Sam explained the incident caused ‘permanent damage’ and has now left them feeling very ‘anxious’ as they focused on ‘mental stuff’ for the last seven months. 

Speaking on the BBC Sidetracked podcast, Sam said: ‘I’ve been really focusing on my mental stuff for the last seven months because I actually broke my ACL.’ 

They then described the moments leading up to the horrific incident: ‘I completely ripped my ACL. I was skiing. I was an idiot and went on a black slope on the second day.’
