Samantha Armytage goes make-up free as she jets off from Sydney Airport just days before her 48th birthday – after her shock departure from Seven

Samantha Armytage went make-up free as she caught a flight from Sydney Airport on Monday, just days before her 48th birthday.

The TV presenter, 47, who recently stepped down from Channel Seven, enjoyed a well-deserved break as she headed off on holiday to a mystery destination.

She looked effortlessly stylish in a black vest top and beige trousers, which she styled with brown sandals and a navy Louis Vuitton scarf.

The former Farmer Wants A Wife host toted her essentials in a brown handbag and a straw tote as she strolled through departures ahead of her flight.

She showed off her fresh-faced beauty as she opted to go make-up free for the outing, while she swept her golden locks back into a ponytail.

Sam’s trip comes as she is set to celebrate her 48th birthday on Wednesday in a major milestone after her shock departure from Channel Seven.

Sam became the face of popular dating show Farmer Wants A Wife last year after first appearing as a guest host alongside former presenter Natalie Gruzlewski.

However, Sam shocked fans last month by announcing she is quitting Seven after 21 years and leaving FWAW in a huge career change.

Describing the departure as ‘sad and bittersweet’, she told The Daily Telegraph that she felt her time had come to an end and that she was excited about her future.

‘I’m big on instinct. I listen to my instinct. I know when the time comes. I am proud of the fact that I back myself enough to say: “I’ve done what I can do here” and I move on,’ she said.

‘This is not the end. It’s just the end of this chapter.’

After shocking fans with the news, details then emerged of the new contract Sam is believed to have turned down.

A source alleged that Sam threw in the towel after two seasons as the host of FWAW because Seven wanted to cut her salary, according to Woman’s Day.

‘Sam wanted similar money to what Natalie Barr and Sonia Kruger are on,’ the insider told the publication.

‘Sam was still on breakfast TV money from an old contract and that’s just not what you get paid to host one reality show these days.

‘She was asking for what Sonia gets paid for three shows. It wasn’t going to happen. Seven just didn’t have the money.’

They went on to allege that Seven also refused to allow Sam more ‘creative control’ on the reality TV series.

After 21 years at Seven, which saw her salary get up to a reported $500,000 per year, Sam’s agents are said to be setting up meetings with Nine and Ten.
