Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage, 41, took a swipe at her co-host Edwina Bartholomew, 34, during a segment on Wednesday morning after the entertainment presenter tried to play matchmaker.
Samantha called engaged Edwina ‘smug’ when she attempted to suggest a potential suitor for her single co-host.
The segment saw First Dates Jake and Rebecca captivate the nation with their onscreen chemistry which unfortunately didn’t make a second date, leaving the manual driver single.
‘Sam I think Jake could be a manual driver, which I know could be one of your prerequisites,’ suggested Edwina enthusiastically.
But Samantha didn’t take her suggestion too positively.
‘All right, thanks Eddie. God, you’ve already become a smug marry, trying to matchmake,’ she snapped.
‘You just worry about your own wedding,’ Samantha interjected, leaving her co-hosts somewhat silenced by the awkward exchange.
Earlier this year, Samantha hinted that she was dating someone, amidst recent rumours linking her to fellow Channel Seven journalist Michael Usher.
But last month romantic speculation didn’t stop Samantha from flirting with handsome Queensland constable Mason Jago, during an interview.
Samantha and co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch chatted to the handsome police officer after his selfie, taken on a journalist’s missing phone, went viral.
Getting flirty! Samantha Armytage and co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch chatted to the handsome police officer after his selfie, taken on a journalist’s missing phone, went viral
‘It is very crazy,’ he said about the incident, ‘it is not something I am used to. I did not think I was good-looking at all.’
‘You are,’ she insisted to the bashful cop.
And before Kochie could continue the interview Samantha cheekily pleaded, ‘can we have a moment to look at his arms please?’
Slowly turning to his side, Constable Mason showed the blonde breakfast TV host, as well as female viewers of the show, his bulging biceps.
The 40-year-old was clearly flustered and while chatting to constable Mason Jago, from the Queensland police, during the interview on Thursday
He went on to explain that he had taken sneaky selfies on his friends’ phones when left lying around calling it a ‘bit of fun’.
‘Not knowing it was a reporter’s phone, I instantly regretted it as soon as I found out it was a reporter,’ he added.
Unfortunately for Samantha, and other women with their eye on the unassuming heartthrob, he revealed he has a girlfriend.
‘She has been a really good sport about it. It has all happened, she has been really good.’
As the interview came to a close Samantha signed off the interview saying: ‘Mason, you are not only hot, you are hilarious too.’
The exchange came after she recently hinted that she ‘might be’ in a relationship, with speculation leaning towards Seven News anchor Michael Usher, whom she was reportedly romantically involved with earlier in the year.
Her revelation sent her fellow panellists David Koch, Natalie Barr and Mark Baretta into fits of gasps and surprised shock.
‘No, look on the silly websites, they’ll run something next week,’ she joked. ‘They might say its you [David] if you stand next to me for long enough.’
