Samantha Armytage in the running to be the new host of the TV reboot of This is Your Life

This is Your Life is finally making a return to Aussie TV screens after a decade off the air with a brand new line of celebrities and a host.

One of the surprising key figures rumoured to be in the running for hosting duties is former Sunrise presenter Samantha Armytage, 45.

Armytage has been listed as a potential host among the likes of Seven news presenter Michael Usher, Seven presenter and former competitive swimmer Johanna Griggs, and beloved comic actor Shane Jacobson.

A Seven network source revealed to New Idea that Sam was a pick that ‘no-one saw that coming’.

‘This could be her way back through the same door she exited in March last year,’ the insider continued, referring to her resignation as Sunrise co-host in March.

Armytage is reportedly looking for a position on television and has lately been eyeing primetime TV.

‘The reality is, everything hinges on the new host!’ the insider added. ‘The face of the show will make or break it, so the wrong move could be a disaster for the network.’

It’s a surprise move for the TV host, who moved to the country for a quieter life two years ago.

Samantha wed her doting partner Richard Richard Lavender on New Year’s Eve in 2020 at his home in Bowral in the Southern Highlands.

After signing off on Sunrise in March last year, she was replaced by newsreader Natalie Barr, and has been enjoying a slower paced lifestyle.

In July 2020, Samantha sold her North Bondi home in Sydney for $2.8million, which suggested she was planning to move to the country full time.

In April last year, Samantha told The Daily Telegraph that she hasn’t turned her back on television and is looking for the ‘right’ job at the ‘right time’.

‘I don’t think I am done with TV. I am for now but I may some day get back in but it has to be the right role and it has to be at the right time,’ she said.

However she’s since been dipping her toes back into the world of presenting, announcing in October that she’s joining Seven’s Farmer Wants a Wife in 2022 as a guest judge.

This is Your Life will return as a series of special events celebrating a brand new group of famous Australians.
