Samantha Armytage reveals the REAL reason she left Sunrise – and it wasn’t to settle into life as a housewife with new husband Richard Lavender

Samantha Armytage has revealed the real reason she left her role at Sunrise earlier this year. 

The former breakfast show host, 44, made the admission on her podcast, Something To Talk About with Samantha Armytage, this week. 

She was asked by her guest, shock jock Kyle Sandilands, 49, why she exited the show.

‘I love leaving a cloud of mystery,’ she joked, before adding, ‘There are many, many reasons. But one of the reasons, was that the fun just wasn’t there anymore’. 

Sam said that she felt that anything she said was being ‘analysed’ and she was ‘belted to death’ in the press.   

‘I thought, “Is life worth this?”‘ she added.

The former TV host insisted that her relationship with new husband Richard Lavender, 60, was not the deciding factor. 

‘We had been together three years at that point,’ she said, insisting the concept of being a ‘newlywed’ housewife was not what pulled her from her TV career.    

In March, Sam stepped down from hosting Channel Seven’s breakfast show after eight years, with claims that she did so in order to spend more time with her family.

She was replaced by longtime co-star Natalie Barr, 53, who took up the helm alongside David ‘Kochie’ Koch, 65.    

Her departure followed her intimate wedding to millionaire businessman Richard Lavender on New Year’s Eve.

The quaint ceremony was held at his Southern Highlands home and was attended by a small number of guests due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
