The Italian champions confirmed the news in a brief statement hours after training as the rest of the squad touched down ahead of their Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid.
Tests on Tuesday discovered Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has an irregular heartbeat
The German midfielder trained as normal with team-mates on Tuesday before the discovery
A Juventus statement read: ‘Sami Khedira has stayed in Turin for medical tests, from which emerged the opportunity to perform an electrophysiological study and eventual treatment of an atrial arrhythmia which appeared today [Tuesday].’
Juvetus boss Massimiliano Allegri had earlier been reluctant to divulge too much information on Khedira’s omission as the club prepared a statement.
AF is a serious condition that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other complications if left untreated.
Khedira trained as normal with team-mates on Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the tie, with the ex-Real Madrid man taking to Twitter after training on Tuesday.
Despite training, he has not travelled with the rest of the squad to face Atletico Madrid next
He underwent an electrophysiological study which saw him diagnosed with atrial arrhythmia
The World Cup winner has made 15 appearances this season for the Old Lady but focus will now be on working his way back to full fitness now he has a diagnosis.
Juventus made the short trip from Italy to Spain on Tuesday afternoon ahead of facing Diego Simeone’s side on Wednesday.
Douglas Costa also missed the trip as the Brazilian winger steps up his rehabilitation from injury.
In his media conference, aside from the Khedira news, Allegri confirmed that Argentine forward Paulo Dybala would start at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Dybala has been backed for a move away in the summer but has recently found game-time easier to come by as he continues to build a blossoming partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Allegri did confirm to the media that Paulo Dybala (L) will start against Atletico on Wednesday
Allegri said: ‘I’ll tell you now that Dybala plays. Paulo is in good shape. On Wednesday he needs his technique and his craft.
‘On Friday, against Frosinone, he scored but played not as well as he has on other occasions.
‘Even in terms of the team’s level it was like this [not playing to their full potential], we created less. We will need a good display [against Atletico], with the awareness that we are facing a compact team that makes the most of set-pieces.’
