Samuel Johnson details his grieving process for Connie

His brave sister Connie lost her high-profile battle against cancer two weeks ago.

And Samuel Johnson opened up to TV Week on Monday about giving himself time to grieve her death privately.

The 39-year-old spoke with the magazine about ‘pushing pause’ on his public life before continuing the charitable work he started with his late sister.

‘I’m taking five days off, and I’m going to just go and breathe,’ the actor revealed, following Connie’s private funeral in Canberra last week.

‘I just want to lie in a paddock, look at the clouds, put my iPod on and listen to my Connie songs – just grieve in my own way. I have to hold it together,’ he continued.

The devoted sibling expressed his confidence in Connie’s two young sons, Willoughby and Hamilton, being able to cope with the tragic loss of their mother.

‘I’ve no worries about the boys, medium to long-term. They’re well-equipped, well-supported and will grow to be fine young men,’ he declared.

The Gold Logie winner said his decision to return to acting was ‘open-ended’ at this stage and he would rather focus on raising money for his Love Your Sister charity.

The non-profit organisation has thus far raised $7.5 million of its $10 million goal.

Samuel told the publication although he is in mourning, the ‘one thing’ Connie left with him was their shared objective is ‘bigger than his feelings’.

The passionate humanitarian said whether his sister is ‘dead or alive’, he is ‘determined’ to keep her memory alive through their fundraising efforts.

Love Your Sister’s official site recently launched ‘Connie Cottonsocks’ and ‘Sammy Seal’ socks, with all funds going towards cancer research.
