Almost every parent has held up a drawing made by their child and ecstatically declared it a masterpiece.
However, if it came to putting their money where their mouth is and actually getting the artwork tattooed on their skin, many would throw their hands up in defeat. But not one father who bravely walked into San Francisco artist Jess Koala’s studio last month to do just that.
The artist shared a number of photos of the client, named Eric, who enlisted her services in September to help him ink his daughters’ creations onto his arm, calling him ‘the coolest dad ever.’

Little eyes: The tattoos include self-portraits of the girls, Gracie and Isabel, and a wide-eyed blue owl
Jess shared a series of images of the artwork, including several separate drawings offered up by his little girls who, according to the tattoos, are named Isabel and Gracie.
Among the scribbles are a pair of little girls, one blonde, one brunette – self-portraits of Eric’s daughters – and a flower with multi-colored petals.
A layered heart with the word ‘love’ inside it and a wide-eyed owl drawn in blue are also now inked onto the proud dad’s arm.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Jess explained that the project started out with ‘self-portraits of his daughters, and then [he] decided to expand upon it!’
Jess helped Eric come up with the idea of having the girls create a ‘flash sheet’ – a collection of individual separate designs on paper that helps create a stencil – so that he would have ideas for the next time he came into the studio.

Just the beginning: The drawings will eventually cover all of Eric’s left arm
The artist also explained that the endeavor is far from over, saying: ‘We have only had two sessions on the sleeve so far, but it will eventually cover his entire left arm.’
She added: ‘Eric is a really great guy and it is a really fun project!’
Although he seems to have taken it farther than most, Eric isn’t the first parent to have one of his children’s works of art inked onto his skin.
Back in August, Cut.com challenged three children to come up with a design that was then tattooed on their mom or dad’s body.
The designs include a fire-breathing dragon, a hot dog with a top hat and a cartoon series of Beauty and the Beast characters
The adorable tots are all fascinated by the process, with one son telling his dad ‘I hope it bleeds!’ and another asking the tattoo artist: ‘How many times did you stab my mom with a needle?’
