  • A group of SantaCon partygoers restrained a drunk man, 45, who was yelling allegedly yelling homophobic slurs and swinging a knife

A group of SantaCon participants kept a train full of passengers safe when they restrained a drunken man who was allegedly screaming homophobic slurs and stabbed someone while brandishing a knife.

The incident took place on a Long Island Rail Road train leaving Manhattan on Saturday evening after SantaCon, an annual pub crawl where people dress up as various Christmas characters around the word.

Witnesses told The New York Post that the raging man was making homophobic comments are pulled out a knife. 

While footage of the moments leading up to the frightening confrontation wasn’t captured, a video shared on Twitter shows two men dressed as Santa Claus talking to knife-wielding drunkard. 

Seconds later, the men are forced to restrain the man as he became increasingly more volatile.

‘A bunch of people jumped on [him] and they managed to hold the guy down and beat him up pretty bad until the cops had arrived,’ Matthew Mont, who was in the next car, said. 

‘There was a lot of scare, people running in and out of the train…they were trying to get out of that area because there was a lot happening.’  

In the video, one of the Santa’s can be heard saying: ‘The f**k are you talking about? Get the f**k out of here, you f**king piece of s***

The video’s original poster made sure to clarify that the SantaCon participants were not the cause of the confrontation. 

‘Just so everyone’s clear, the guys in the Santa costumes did not start this. The old drunk man enticing them did.’ they wrote

Mont echoed that statement, saying the drunk man was being inappropriate.

He said: ‘This was just a guy, he was drunk. He was saying very disturbing comments, you know, about gays … and just things that weren’t all right.’

Unfortunately, one of the men restraining the out-of-control passenger was stabbed in the leg. 

The victim, 22, was taken to  Elmhurst Hospital Center with a minor puncture in his leg. 

It is unclear if the victim participated in SantaCon, but many of the people restraining the suspect were. 

The 45-year-old attacker was reportedly taken into custody and sported a bloody face after the altercation.
