Sarah Jessica Parker has broken her silence following the death of her friend and Sex and the City co-star Willie Garson.

Garson passed away at the age of 57 on Tuesday following a battle with pancreatic cancer, prompting a flood of tributes from friends and colleagues.

However, close friend Parker, 56, had waited to give her response until Friday, saying that it had been ‘unbearable’ for her in a moving Instagram post, while sharing a series of vintage snaps of the two actors together.

‘It’s been unbearable,’ Parker’s emotional post began, adding: ‘Sometimes silence is a statement.’

Long before working together playing best friends Carrie Bradshaw and Stanford Blatch respectively, the pair had been real-life friends for over thirty years.

She continued: ‘Of the gravity. The anguish. The magnitude of the loss of a 30 + year friendship.’

‘A real friendship that allowed for secrets, adventure, a shared professional family, truth, concerts, road trips, meals, late night phone calls, a mutual devotion to parenthood and all the heartaches and joy that accompany, triumphs, disappointments, fear, rage and years spent on sets (most especially Carrie’s apartment) and laughing late into the night as both Stanford and Carrie and Willie and SJ.’

The lengthy post continued: ‘Willie. I will miss everything about you. And replay our last moments together. I will re-read every text from your final days and put to pen our last calls.’

The tragic news came as a huge shock to fans of the beloved HBO series, that is just about to get a spin-off version titled And Just Like That.

Garson was seen reprising his role as Stanford, alongside Parker as Carrie, while filming in New York City just this summer – with the pair being pictured on July 24.

One touching photo of the pair between takes, shows Garson planting a kiss on Parker’s cheek.

Alluding to knowing about his illness, Parker said in her statement that she would ‘re-read’ every text she received from his ‘final days’ and plans to write out their final calls shared together.
