Her message of ‘love and support’ to Kim Cattrall was met with unmeasured fury by the Sex And The City star on Sunday.
Yet ‘good girl’ Sarah Jessica Parker continued to spread the love on Valentine’s Day, when she sent out a cryptic post about ‘peace’ three days later.
Seemingly unabashed by Kim’s, 61, explosive rant – in which the grieving actress accused SJP of ‘exploiting’ her family tragedy – the 52-year-old wrote: ‘I hope everyone feels some love today. X, SJ’
Feeling the love: Sarah Jessica Parker (left) sent out a message of love on Valentine’s Day after her support for grieving Sex And The City co-star Kim Cattrall (right) was publicly rejected on Sunday
Her short and seemingly sweet message was accompanied by an illustration of hearts and stars, featuring the words ‘love’ and ‘peace’ in honour of St Valentine’s Day on Wednesday.
The Carrie Bradshaw star was publicly humiliated at the weekend when her condolences to Kim about the loss of her brother Chris were rejected on social media.
In a scathing attack on SJP, Samantha Jones actress Kim fumed: ‘Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.
‘Peace’: The actress shared a picture of love hearts and stars with the words ‘love’ and ‘peace’ to honour St Valentine on Wednesday
Wishes: Sarah’s cryptic post comes after her love was sent directly back, by Kim
‘Let me make this VERY clear (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your “nice girl” persona.’
The post was accompanied by an image saying: ‘I don’t need your love or support this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.’
Kim had announced her tragedy the previous Sunday in a statement.
She wrote: ‘It is with great sadness that myself and my family announce the unexpected passing of our son and brother, Chris Cattrall.
At loggerheads: An outburst by Samantha Jones actress Kim (right) singled out Carrie Bradshaw actress Carrie (left in the show, in 2001) for being a hypocrite
‘At this time we ask for privacy but we want to thank you all on social media for your outpouring of love and support in this trying time.’
Kim’s younger brother vanished from his home in Canada for a whole week before he was found dead.
Following her announcement, Kim had initially seemed grateful for her Sex And The City family as collective, thanking them for their well-wishings on Instagram.
She wrote a simple post saying: ‘I would like to thank my fans, friends and my #SexandtheCity colleagues for the outpouring of support for myself and family over the past 72 hours.’
Initial thanks: Initially, the grieving actress – whose brother was found dead this month – had thanked the SATC family
Rejection: But days later, a comment written by Carrie was singled out in this dramatic rant by Kim, on Instagram
And four days before, Sarah Jessica was among those sending her love, writing a personal tribute in the comments section of Kim’s heartbreaking statement.
‘Dearest Kim,’ she wrote. ‘My love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx’
Yet her message struck a very different chord with Kim, who dredged up some animosity the acting duo – somewhat privately – shared during years of SATC filming.
But it looked like fans were still on Sarah’s side, following her Valentine’s Day post, which was met with sympathy and compassion.
Grieving: Kim announced that her brother Chris had been found dead the weekend before last and pleaded for privacy
Well-wishings: Sarah’s Valentine’s Day post was mainly met with warmth and adoration from her fanbase
‘Hope you got some love!’ said one fan. ‘Been a tough few days for you – stay strong, chic, smart and fabulous as always’
One other added: ‘Sending lots of love back. STAY STRONG AND DON’T LET IN ANY NEGATIVITY’
‘Yea hope a certain someone does as well,’ said another, while another added: ‘Send thats wishes to @kimcattrall !!’
In a dedication, one TV show fan wrote: ‘Love you! Through the current headlines you continue to be the picture of class, peace, & love.
‘I’ve always been a huge fan. If possible, I’m now an even HUGER fan. Fingers crossed for #SATC3. Happy Valentines Day & keep your head up!’
Feuding: It brought to light a lot of animosity between the actresses that no-one knew about
