As she continues battling Stage 4 breast cancer, Shannen Doherty is celebrating another year of life.
The Charmed alum, 53, stepped out Friday for lunch at Casita Basqueria in Malibu, where longtime pal Sarah Michelle Gellar helped her ring in her 53rd birthday.
‘Happy birthday @theshando #LetsBeClear I love any reason to celebrate you,’ Gellar, 46, captioned a selfie on Instagram, referencing Doherty’s podcast with the hashtag.
Gellar thanked Basqueria for the ‘yummy food,’ sharing a photo of the eatery’s vegetable paella simmering over a flame.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer also shared a photo of their olive oil birthday cake, which was adorned with flowers for the birthday girl.

Friday marked another birthday for someone else in Gellar’s life, as she shared a photo of her rescue dog Franz.
‘Happy birthday to my smallest (in size only) boy,’ she wrote with a photo of the pup on her Instagram Story.
Gellar and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. share daughter Charlotte Grace, 14, and 11-year-old son Rocky James.
The Cruel Intentions actress also shared a photo of her look from Friday’s lunch, a sparkling silver spaghetti strap top tucked into oversized jeans.
The jeans were ripped at the bottom, showing off a pair of black open-toe stilettos.

Gellar and Doherty have been close friends since their days starring on The WB in the late 90s and early aughts.

After Doherty revealed her cancer diagnosis in 2020, Gellar was one of several friends to show their support.
‘Life is tough… but you are tougher,’ she captioned a photo of the two of them.
Although Doherty revealed in November that her cancer has spread to her bones, she shared a ‘miracle’ update in January after trying a new treatment.
‘After the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier,’ she said.
Doherty added: ‘Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now.’
