‘I was kind of skin and bones at that point’: SAS Australia star Anna Heinrich has revealed the aftermath of the shocking cold water challenge that left her on the brink of hypothermia

The former Bachelor star told Seven Entertainment: ‘I was kind of skin and bones at that point.’

‘A lot of other recruits actually did [put on weight] knowing that they would be losing a bit of weight going in.

‘So it would have been nice if I’d actually [put on] a bit more weight knowing that I was going to lose a bit and that potentially could have helped with the cold.’

On Monday’s episode, Anna was pushed to her physical limits during a ‘cold water torture’ challenge, which involved swimming in a boat filled with ice and being sprayed with a hose.

Despite being pushed to the brink of hypothermia, Anna managed to dig deep and complete the challenge.

Hypothermia is a dangerous drop in body temperature due to the cold, with symptoms including shivering, exhaustion and even slurred speech.

To combat hypothermia, the body needs to be rewarmed with the likes of heated blankets and warm fluids.

Anna spoke of her struggles with self-doubt while explaining her decision to join SAS Australia in a recent interview with Perth Now.

‘I’m not a very confident person, I have a lot of self-doubt – if I don’t think I can do something then I don’t want to do it,’ she said.

‘The reason why I joined [SAS Australia] was to gain more confidence, and to show my little girl that when you say that you can’t do anything, you can,’ she added.
