Sassuolo are reportedly eyeing up a move for Liverpool’s Marko Grujic as the Serie A side make the Serbian midfielder their No 1 target should Manuel Locatelli leave this summer.
Locatelli, 23, has attracted interest from Juventus and Arsenal following his role in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph, with the Old Lady set to hold further talks with their Italian rivals over a £40m move.
The dynamic midfielder is expected to leave Sassuolo this summer and the Neroverdi are as a result making contingency plans in the event that Locatelli seals his big-money exit.

The 25-year-old could replace Manuel Locatelli, who is linked with a £40m move to Juventus
And according to Sky Sports, Grujic is Sassuolo’s priority target to replace their Italian midfielder.
The 25-year-old has been far from Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Anfield, having spent the past three seasons on loan at Hertha Berlin (2018-19 and 2019-20) and Porto (2020-21).
The Reds value Grujic, who has played just 16 games for the Premier League side since arriving in 2016, at £13m.

The same report outlines that Sassuolo are great admirers of Grujic, with recruitment chief Davide Cangini attempting to prise the Serb from Anfield two years ago when he worked for Atalanta.
It is understood that Sassuolo are in a position where a move for the 25-year-old would be financially viable regardless of whether they offload Locatelli this summer.
Grujic featured regularly for Porto last season, scoring two goals in 39 games for the Portuguese giants, but has returned to Liverpool for the start of pre-season.
