Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager celebrate their daughters’ shared birthdays on the Today show

Savanna Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager celebrated their daughters’ shared birthdays on the Today show Friday after paying tribute to their little girls with heartwarming social media posts.

The Today co-hosts are not only friends and colleagues, but their daughters were both born on the same day, just one year apart. Savannah’s daughter, Vale, turned seven on August 13, while Jenna’s middle child, Poppy, rang in her sixth birthday.

Like their moms, Vale and Poppy are also friends, and they’ve celebrated their birthdays together in previous years. Savannah, 49, wished Vale a happy birthday during the show’s second hour, saying her daughter is ‘not a baby anymore.’

‘She’s getting it all, a cupcake, cake, nothing but candy,’ the co-anchor shared, noting: ‘I gave birth to her this very hour in the 8 o’clock hour. That was on a Today show schedule.’

Earlier in the day, she took to Instagram to post photos of Vale in honor of her big day while sharing how much she means to their family.

‘Our girl. Our sunshine. Our heart. This sweet angel has delighted her whole family from the moment she came into the world, bright and early, 7 years ago TODAY!’ Savannah wrote.

‘Happy Birthday, Vale. You are altogether lovely. You make my heart soar with pride and thanks to God every single day.’

The first photo in the series shows little Vale smiling with an ice cream sundae in her hands. In the next, she is striking a pose on the playground.

Savannah included a snapshot of herself with Vale, both of them wearing matching pink. She rounded out the post with pictures of Vale kissing her father, Michael Feldman, and enjoying popsicles with her little brother, Charley.

Jenna, 39, shared a similar sentiment when she celebrated her daughter Poppy on Instagram.

‘Happiest birthday to the sparkliest, fire-cracker, fierce and feisty six-year-old,’ she wrote. ‘You came into this world with a roar and have added an effervescence to our family ever since. We love you so our Poppy Lou.’

The proud mom shared a photo of herself hugging Poppy on a boat, both of them wearing life vests, their hair wet from the ocean. She also posted snapshots of Poppy with her big sister, Mila, and her father, Henry Hager.

‘It’s a big day in the Hager household. It’s Poppy Hager’s sixth birthday,’ Jenna told her co-host Willie Geist during the show’s fourth hour.

‘I mean, first of all, look at that picture,’ she said, referring to the photo of Poppy that was shared on the screen behind them. She’s just the funniest human being. She’s a poster, but not in a bad way. She’s the cutest.’

Jenna went on to gush about how funny Poppy is while recalling a conversation her daughters had with their father the other night.

‘Mila was getting very deep with Henry,’ she explained, ‘and Mila was like, “You know what? I don’t want to be famous. I know like acting, but I’m not gonna be famous young, Daddy.” And Henry, like I heard him say, “That’s smart. Why?” She’s like, “I want to have things to look forward to in my life.”

‘And Poppy chimed in, she goes, “I don’t ever even want to be famous. I just want to make people laugh.” And she does,’ Jenna insisted. ‘She makes us laugh. She is hysterical. We think she is going to be the next Amy Schumer, but we don’t need to put that pressure on her.’

The former first daughter also dished about Poppy’s birthday plans, explaining that she is going to have a couple of friends over for a small party. She noted that the gathering will be outdoors and socially distanced, saying they’ll likely go swimming because of the heat.

‘Mila is a party planner, too, in her spare time, and so the party is a “butterfly picnic” theme,’ she explained. ‘So, I’m not sure what that entails. Mila told Poppy she will enjoy it, and there is some bossing going on by the big sissy. But it will be just chill.’
