It’s the house, in the middle of the street, where Suggs used to live – but not anymore.

Madness singer Suggs used to own this London property in the 1980s when he released the hit song ‘Our House’. He bought it in 1981, aged just 20, following the group’s success in UK Singles chart.

He sold it to the current owners 32 years ago in 1985, and the property is only now back on the market, with an asking price of £1.95million.

The three-bedroom end of terrace mews house is for sale through estate agents Savills.

It is just off Camden Square in London and was originally three separate mews houses.

Today, it spreads across an impressive 2,800 sq ft and two floors.

Suggs told MailOnline: ‘Finally we arrived at my newly purchased house in Camden Mews. It had been part of the stables for the bigger houses at the back. It was pretty, but tiny.

‘One half of the downstairs was a garage, which we were eventually going to convert. The furniture at this point consisted of one jukebox with one record, ‘Cry Me a River’ by Julie London. Which did make our housewarming somewhat limited, as did the fact that my mate who’d been in charge of the bar got fed up halfway through the proceedings and locked all the booze in the bathroom, taking the key with him.

‘The years flew and we had two lovely daughters, Scarlett and Viva. The Karmann Ghia became too small and sadly had to go, as did the mews house.’

Camden Mews is a cobbled street, moments from Camden Square and within close reach of both Camden and Kentish Town.

Kentish Town provides easy access to the City while a little over a mile away is Kings Cross St Pancras which provides access to the north and Europe via the Eurostar.

Suggs – whose real name is Graham McPherson – released the song ‘Camden Town’ in 1995 as homage to his favourite part of London.

In 2012 at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, Madness performed Our House at the top of Buckingham Palace as terraced streets from around the country were projected onto the front of the palace.

The band also performed the song in the closing ceremony for the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Madness had 15 top ten singles, including Baggy Trousers, House of Fun and It Must be Love and had three platinum albums between the late Seventies and mid-Eighties. The band released their 42-track hits package, ‘Full House – The Very Best of Madness’ on November 17.

Commenting about the sale, Peter Rosen, of the Savills branch in Primrose Hill, said: ‘Located on a cobbled street in the heart of Camden, this is an exceptionally large mews house which offers wonderful lateral space, making it perfect for entertaining. We expect to see interest from buyers who are drawn to the area for its strong local and international transport connections as well as downsizers seeking a London base.’
