Scheana Shay reveals plans to have a second child with Brock but will opt for surrogacy or adoption

Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay says she is ready to have a second child with husband Brock Davies via surrogacy or adoption – two years after giving birth to their daughter Summer Moon following a tragic miscarriage in June 2020.

Scheana, 37, opens up about her baby plans during an appearance on the Undressed with Pol and Patrik podcast, where she says that she is looking into fertilizing eggs that she had frozen in June 2019 – before her marriage to Brock, 30.

While opening up about her desire to expand her family, Scheana says is ‘not getting any younger’ when asked if she was going to be giving their daughter Summer Moon – who was born in April 2021 – a sibling.

However the mother-of-one says she doesn’t want to get pregnant and give birth again – having been through a ‘traumatic labor’ when she brought her daughter into the world. Instead, the reality star says she and Brock will turn to surrogacy – or even consider adoption.

‘I had a very traumatic labor. We had a miscarriage before,’ Scheana recalls. ‘I think the next step would be fertilizing my eggs that are frozen. See if any can turn into an embryo. Consider a surrogate. Or consider adoption. Or even just consider rolling the dice and hoping for the best.’

Scheana’s baby journey  began in January 2019 – nearly a year before she met her Australian Rugby player husband Brock at a music festival.

It was at that time that Scheana froze 16 of her eggs and shared the experience with her fans on Instagram.

Next to a photo of herself smiling in a hospital bed, Scheana discussed her reason for getting the procedure done.

‘Today’s the day! Bye bye eggs! For me personally, this has been a very easy, painless and awesome experience. Everyone is different I’m sure,’ she wrote.

‘I am single and no where near trying to have a baby. So for me- yes, this was an easy process and when i say painless, I’m referring to the needles which i have no problem with.’

Scheana shared that her doctors alerted her to a health issue, which would cause complications several years later after the birth of Summer.

‘My AMH levels were only at .28 and for my age that’s insanely low. That’s disappointing to find out.’

‘It was an awesome experience to see everything that goes into freezing eggs. My doctor highly recommended for me to do this to have a better chance at a healthy baby down the road,’ she added.

I have learned so much about fertility and everything that goes into freezing eggs and IVF. You never know what will happen in life.’

‘I’m not trying to have a baby right now, so this was an easy decision for me to make and thankfully I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford it.’

Scheana remained single until November 2019, when she fell hard and fast for Brock.

In May 2020, Scheana told Bravo’s Maria Menounos that she planned to have children with Brock, who was already a father.

‘I want at least two, and he already has two. So four I think, for him, is a good number. If in a crazy off chance, I get pregnant naturally, twins also run in my family.’

‘If I have twin boys, I’m definitely trying again for a girl,’ she said during her Bravo interview.

Two months later, in June 2020, Scheana revealed on her Scheananigans podcast that she learned that she was pregnant a few weeks prior.

While celebrating Brock’s birthday with drinks, she started vomiting. At first, she assumed it was the mixed drinks that they were drinking.

After taking a pregnancy test, she learned that she was expecting – and the two were elated.

‘I didn’t think that I could get pregnant on my own,’ Scheana said. She then told fans the devastating news – that she had miscarried the child.

While celebrating the amazing news, Scheana said that she started ‘bleeding all weekend, and it wasn’t stopping.’

The bleeding stopped when she went on progesterone supplements, but an ultrasound later revealed that her unborn baby did not have a heartbeat.

‘There were parts that he could see where the fetus was starting to form and it just didn’t. To be excited for a few weeks and then it’s gone so quickly. It’s still been a lot to process,’ she said during he podcast.

Luckily, Scheana an Brock got another chance at parenthood when she became pregnant three months later, in October 2020.

She divulged that their bundle-of-joy would be arriving in April 2021.

Scheana gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy and, on April  26, she gave birth to their daughter, Summer Moon.

Doctors induced labor for her pregnancy, which caused yet another serious health issue for the new mom.

‘Almost 24 hours after being induced, my blood pressure was extremely elevated,’ Scheana disclosed to her Instagram followers.

It got worse and turned to HELLP syndrome, which is a form of preeclampsia, in which high blood pressure can affect the liver and kidneys,’ she wrote.

‘My doctor said I was lucky, and we caught this just in time to treat as it’s very unusual to be caught so late, in postpartum,’ Scheana wrote.

Scheana was placed on a magnesium drip, which made her lethargic with flu-like symptoms.

In March 2022 Scheana and Brock revealed on Scheananigans podcast that they had timeline for baby number two.

Brock, who has two other children that live in Australia, said ‘I definitely look forward to having one or two… I’m open.’

‘I think in a couple of years. Originally, before I had any complications, I had such a great pregnancy, there were no complications until, obviously, we were in labor.’

‘I was thinking like this summer we would try to get pregnant again so they were like pretty close in age. Like, oh my God that’s so soon…totally not,’ Scheana said.

Scheana and Brock discussed their upcoming baby plans on the Undressed podcast, hosted by fashion designer Pol Atteu – who designed her wedding dress – and his partner Patrik Simpson. Their show Gown and Out in Beverly Hills is currently in it’s fourth season on Amazon prime.
