School bus full of children crashes into Miami home

A school bus full of children crashed into a home in Hialeah, Miami, Monday morning.

Fire rescue officials confirmed at least ten of the children had minor injuries and one child was rushed to hospital because of a cut on his back caused by the broken glass on the vehicle.

‘It crashed into the house after it went out of control,’ said seventh-grader Jose Alba.

The Maria Elena shool bus smashed into Liuba Garcia’s home, both Garcia and the driver, who has not been identified, were too distraught to speak about the situation.

The tragic accident left a giant hole in the living room of Garcia’s home but the homeowner does have insurance.

The bus driver’s son arrived at the scene to see his mom and would only say, ‘It was an accident.’

Meanwhile Rafael Acevedo, Garcia’s friend, was on hand to help after the incident. ‘Basically, they call us because I guess somebody run the light and the bus couldn’t stop and it went inside the house,’ said Acevedo.

‘The front window is gone and everything in the living room is damaged. As of right now, they’re calling insurance to see so we can cover it up or something.’

There have been several dangerous situations at the same intersection where the crash happened, W 12th Avenue and W 46th Street.

‘Every month there’s an accident. They have to do something about this corner,’ Garcia’s father, Manuel Garcia said.

Neighbor Juan Garcia added: ‘It’s maybe the third time I see that…Not on the house, on the fence but close to the house,’ said Juan Garcia. ‘I told the homeowner here be careful. Somebody could be injured in the living room.’

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and currently the school bus company has refused to comment.
