A school has been placed on lockdown and parents sent a terrifying text message alert after an alleged threat.

Upper Coomera State College on the Gold Coast sent parents a message saying the school was in ‘voluntary lockdown’.

Police arrived at the school on Tuesday morning, and confirmed they were investigating an alleged threat.

‘UCSC has gone into voluntary lockdown as a precautionary measure until further notice,’ the message said, Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

‘The safety of students and staff is our priority. Thank you.’ 

A police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia police are ‘investigating the authenticity of an alleged threat’.

‘Police are working closely with the Department of Education in relation to the management of the situation and the safety of students.’
