A 15-year-old aspiring actress has been found dead in an Edinburgh park, prompting a flood of tributes from her online followers.

Sephora Laforge, who is believed to be a pupil at George Watson private school in the Scottish capital, was found by a member of the public on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were scrambled to King George V Park but, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the teenager could not be saved.

Sephora, whose family originally hailed from France, had been seen in a troubled state on Monday night, according to Daily Record police sources. 

But an official spokesperson said her death is still unexplained and detectives are not treating it as suspicious.

One heartbroken friend described Sephora as an ‘angel’ and said: ‘I wish I could tell her everything is going to be OK. We are all devastated. 

‘This is the worst news ever. She told people she was feeling depressed and down but nobody thought this would happen.’

Under her most recent Instagram photo, a stream of tributes were posted including: ‘Rest easy gorgeous gonna miss your smile and laugh gone far to soon.’

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘At about 7.40am on Tuesday, October 22, the body of a female was found in the King George V Park, Eyre Place, Edinburgh.

‘Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.’ 

A vigil has been organised for the tragic teenager for Friday evening near the park, where her distraught friends will light lanterns in her memory.   

George Watson’s College charges annual fees of £13,170 and counts cyclist Sir Chris Hoy and former foreign secretary Malcolm Rifkind among its alumni.
