Scuba diver rescued by helicopter in Sydney’s southeast

A scuba diver suffering from exhaustion has been rescued from waters off Sydney’s southeast.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was deployed to assist the man around 2pm, after reports he was in trouble off Bare Island, Nine News reports.

Shocked onlookers watched and filmed as emergency services winched the victim to safety. 

 

A scuba diver suffering from exhaustion has been rescued from waters off Bare Island in Sydney’s southeast

The man was taken by helicopter to the rescue base at La Perouse where paramedics were on standby.

Despite suffering from exhaustion the man was released and not transported to hospital. 

The area he was rescued from is renowned for fishing, diving and snorkelling due to the abundant marine life.

It forms part of the Kamay Botany Bay National Park and is located close to Sydney Airport.
