This is the shocking moment an octopus squeezes the life out of a seagull with its tentacles.
The video was captured by Ian McAuley in the harbour of Torrevieja in southern Spain.
It shows the bird flapping its wings as the life is slowly drained out of it by the sea creature.

In the recently-emerged footage, the helpless bird is unable to flee the clasp of the tentacles.
At one point, a curious duck comes towards the scene but then wisely swims away from the octopus.
Mr McAuley said: ‘It’s rare to see this type of octopus attack happen anywhere in the world.

The seagull’s flapping slows as the octopus continues to squeeze it with its tentacles
‘The octopus jumped up and grabbed the seagull. The gull fought hard but to no avail.
‘All the other birds flew away apart from one brave duck, who seemed to come to its aid.’
The video was recorded a year ago and has attracted more than 100,000 views on YouTube and has reemerged recently.
