Controversial MMA star Sean Strickland has put the call out for Sydney sparring partners ahead of his middleweight title fight with Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 this weekend – and he’s fully prepared to beat up any novices who want to put their hand up.

Strickland, who’s made it known he enjoys beating people up in the gym, took to social media on Wednesday morning to see if any locals were game.

‘The UFC says I must do some open work outs tonight at 540,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘If you bring gloves I’ll spar you! Just don’t f**king cut me!’

Strickland’s brutal sparring sessions have gone viral online, with one clip from last year showing him knocking an unnamed opponent unconscious with a head kick.

‘This was consensual,’ Strickland wrote. ‘Don’t ban me Instagram….’

The 32-year-old Las Vegas star is one of the most polarising fighters in the sport and has stated on numerous occasions that he hopes to kill somebody in the Octagon.

On Tuesday, Strickland admitted he ‘assaulted’ a fan at Sydney’s famous Bondi beach just hours after landing in Australia.

‘Initially, I thought the guy was coming up for a photo,’ he told Fox Sports.

‘[Then he said] ‘Izzy is gunna f*** you up.

‘Boom, right in the guts,’ he said, describing his response.

‘I’d only been in Australia a day and already I’d committed an assault.

‘If you wanna come up to me and run your f***ing mouth, I’ll smack you like I smack anybody else.

‘Uppercut to his stomach. Then I walked away. But if I see the guy again, man, no problems … I’ll thank him for not pressing charges.’

Despite that ugly interaction, Strickland gave a positive review of the city during a UFC 293 Embedded vlog.

‘So I talk a lot of s**t about Australia, because it’s kind of weird, you all are descendants of convicts, and yet you have a really nice city,’ Strickland said.

Strickland was a no-show at the first big event of UFC 293 fight week – a Welcome to Country at Barangaroo Reserve – amid speculation that the NSW Government does not want him jeopardizing their $16million splurge on MMA.

Adesanya, who is looking to defend his title for the sixth time this weekend, has branded Strickland an ‘idiot’.

‘Have you seen the way he spars?’ he told Fox Sports. ‘That’s not normal.

‘It’s not f***ing normal.’
